These are the Kalguuran skills, and they introduce a completely fresh way to build your character. Getting your hands on them requires interacting with the Remnant league mechanic, and they work a bit differently than what you are used to. Here is a straightforward, no-nonsense guide on how to unlock, craft, and actually use these skills. How to Get Your First Kalguuran SkillsUnlike normal skill gems that you get from quest rewards or vendors, Kalguuran Skill Gems have to be sought out and crafted. You have two main paths to get them: building them yourself or buying them from the community. 1. The Crafting Route (Dealing with the Remnant Mechanic)If you want to earn them yourself, you'll need to play through the league mechanic. Progress the Campaign: First things first, you need to head to Act 4 and complete Farrow's questline. This fully unlocks Ancient Runes crafting, which is the crafting station you'll use to create these gems. Run the Encounters: Keep an eye out for Ezomyte Remnant encounters. You can find these while leveling through the campaign (areas like the Manor Ramparts in Act 1 or the Buried Shrines in Act 2 are great examples) and later on in endgame Maps. Farming Tip: When you're managing the runes during an encounter, look at the UI layout. Always prioritize targets that have more overlapping circles. More circles mean tougher fights, but it also signals way better rewards and a much higher chance of dropping the specific Kalguuran components you need. Because these gems are itemized, you can simply open up the in-game trade market and purchase pre-crafted Kalguuran gems directly from other players. How Kalguuran Skills Actually WorkBefore you drop one of these gems into your gear, you need to understand their unique mechanics. They don't play by the same rules as standard PoE 2 skills. The Cost: Runic WardThe biggest twist with Kalguuran skills is their resource cost. They do not use Mana, and they do not use Life. Instead, they strictly cost Runic Ward to cast. If you just socket the gem without the right gear, you won't even be able to use it. To fix this, you need to unlock the ability to get Runic Ward on your equipment: Progress through the Runeseeker questline. Reach the Runic Vault located inside the Lost Catacombs. This unlocks the Verisium Anvil, which allows you to use Runeforging to add Runic Ward stats directly onto your armor.
Total Build FreedomOn the bright side, Kalguuran skills are incredibly flexible. They have absolutely no attribute requirements (no Strength, Dexterity, or Intelligence thresholds) and no weapon restrictions.
